Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Application Engineer to design, develop, implement, and maintain software tools and subsystems in support of software reuse and domain analyses. As an Application Engineer you will utilize formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools to manage software development and support activities. You will estimate development costs and schedules, review existing programs for improvements, and formulate specifications for software applications. Additionally, you will be responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. In this role, you will provide guidance to other team members, ensure quality assurance, and evaluate software products.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Continuously monitor the health and status of security tool suites through IT system management.
2. Maintain, upgrade, refresh, and update systems and tools to ensure full operational capacity.
3. Conduct database administration to monitor, report, and repair any degradation of system health and status.
4. Analyze newly identified vulnerabilities and deficiencies within the Enterprise IT/IC GovCloud security tool suite, performing gap analysis.
5. Research and evaluate commercial products to address identified vulnerabilities or deficiencies.
6. Conduct analysis of alternatives and present findings to the Government for evaluation and selection of a solution.
7. Collaborate and coordinate with ancillary organizations for procurement, delivery, disposal, and tracking of new hardware/software required for solution implementation.
8. Prepare configuration plans and software enhancement plans, ensuring seamless integration with GUI and/or web front-end interfaces.
9. Define and design interfaces to retrieve data from various scanning tools.
10. Design, validate, and implement access controls as part of system and service solutions.
11. Enhance, modify, and test Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) software and hardware for interoperability and compatibility with the existing Enterprise IT/IC GovCloud architecture.
12. Prepare Engineering Change Proposals for any system configuration changes.
13. Define, coordinate, and schedule testing, integration, implementation, and deployment activities with external interface devices/owners.
14. Deploy security solutions across the IT Enterprise Network, installing hardware and implementing required software for a fully functional environment.
15. Conduct security tool instruction and training for authorized users of the Agency Enterprise IT/IC GovCloud security tool suite.

Requirements:
- All experience and education should be in a technical field directly related to the labor category.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience and a High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience and an Associate's Degree.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience and a Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience and a Master's Degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience and a Doctorate's Degree.
